Breeding Projects

Currently I have no projects, but I plan to start 2 main projects within the next year or so. I will be getting and adult albino corn snake from a friend, once I get that and sex it I will get it a mate for breeding in early 2016. I dont have any morphs in mind yet, I just want to get the fundamentals of everything first since this will be the first snake Ive owned. Once I feel comfortable with one snake, which I don’t think will take too long since I’ve been handling reptiles most of my life, I will invest in its mate. The whole point of this project is to learn how to breed in general, I’ve never handled reptile eggs or tired to mate anything other than flowers so this is purely a project to help me get more comfortable with the whole thing.

Now the second project will be much like the corn snake project as far as learning and getting comfortable, but instead I will be getting Red Eyed Crocodile Skinks. I will most likely be buying them 1 at a time much like the corn snake, I would like to get comfortable with one first since they do require a little more maintenance than the corn snake. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be much for captive bred on the market yet for this species so I will probably have to end up getting wild caught ones to breed, I don’t personally like doing this but its one of the necessary evils of this hobby, without doing it we could never keep and raise these amazing reptiles.

Thats it for now, but Im always checking craigslist for more tanks and animals that owners are no longer able to keep. So I never know I might be adding in other project randomly over time. I also might try some other animals as well that interest me like crabs and dart frogs, but I dont want to get in over my head so we will see with time.
